Body Jewelry - Barbells

Barbells are a type of body jewelry that has a "post" and "balls". Barbells are almost always threaded for the balls to screw on except for in the rare occasion when the balls are designs to pop on and off. All of our barbells are threaded unless specified on the product description. Good quality threading on a barbell is a tell tale sign of high quality body jewelry. Most barbells are externally threaded which means the threading is located on the exterior tip of the post and the ball is drilled. An internally threaded barbell is drilled at the tip of the post so that the male threads will be found on the ball. On an externally threaded barbell the post threads into the ball and on an internally threaded barbell, the ball has male threading which screws into a hole at the tip of the barbell post. Some people prefer internally threaded body jewelry while others prefer externally threaded body jewelry. Either way, if you're piercing is healed and healthy, it should not matter what type of threading you choose. If your piercing is not healed or healthy, then you probably should not be changing your body jewelry until it is because you risk causing trauma to the healing tissue which lines the interior of your body piercing.
